Introducing Two New Performance Upgrades

Introducing Two New Performance Upgrades

Flannel Crown Lining & Kevlar Thread Reinforcement

At HD Welding Hats, every design decision starts with the realities of the job site. Heat, sparks, movement, and long hours all demand gear that works as hard as you do. With that in mind, we’re introducing two new optional upgrades designed to improve comfort and durability—without compromising safety or fit.

Now Available on All Custom Welding Caps:

  • Flannel Crown Lining (Crown Only)

  • Kevlar Thread Reinforcement (High-Exposure Areas)

Each upgrade is offered as a standalone option, so you can choose exactly what makes sense for your work and environment.

Flannel Crown Lining — Comfort Where It Counts

Our new Flannel Crown Lining is sewn into the crown section of the welding cap only. The band and the underside of the brim remain standard cotton, coordinated with the outer fabric.

Why crown-only flannel?

Flannel is warm, soft, and comfortable—but it also has a brushed fiber surface. In high-heat environments, those fibers can:

  • Catch sparks more easily

  • Reduce friction, potentially affecting how securely a cap stays in place

By limiting flannel to the crown area, we provide added comfort and warmth where it’s most beneficial—without introducing unnecessary risk or fit issues.

Key benefits:

  • Added comfort for cooler environments

  • Soft interior feel without compromising safety

  • Maintains proper fit and stability

  • Cotton band and brim lining for spark resistance and grip

This upgrade is ideal for welders who want extra comfort, especially during colder months or in drafty shops, while still keeping function first.

Kevlar Thread Reinforcement — Strength Where It’s Needed Most

The Kevlar Thread option reinforces the areas of the welding cap that take the most abuse:

  • The brim

  • The bottom two rows of stitching on the band

These zones are the most exposed to heat, sparks, friction, and repeated handling during daily work.

Why Kevlar thread in these areas?

Kevlar thread is known for its exceptional strength, heat resistance, and durability. By using it only in high-exposure zones, we reinforce the cap where failure is most likely—without altering flexibility or comfort in low-stress areas.

Key benefits:

  • Increased durability in high-wear areas

  • Improved resistance to heat and abrasion

  • Longer service life under demanding conditions

  • Reinforcement without added bulk

This upgrade is built for welders who put their gear through long shifts, tight spaces, and tough conditions.

Designed With Purpose. Built for the Trade.

Neither of these upgrades is about adding features for the sake of marketing. They were developed through practical consideration of:

  • Heat exposure

  • Spark behavior

  • Cap stability

  • Long-term wear

That’s why flannel is not used in the band or brim lining, and why Kevlar thread is targeted, not overused.

Available Now on Custom Welding Caps

Both the Flannel Crown Lining and Kevlar Thread Reinforcement are now available as optional upgrades on HD Welding Hats welding caps.

Choose one. Choose both. Or stick with the standard build you trust.
Either way, your cap is made to order—crafted with the same attention to detail, fit, and durability that defines HD Welding Hats.
